This is Roger Tinker, owner and general manager of all star pest control in Columbus, Georgia. I want to talk about Christmas trees today and give you some insights that I hope will help you. As a child in the 50s and the early 60s, I remember the excitement in going to get a Christmas tree all saw remember mom and daddy put in a tree and a special stand where you could walk to the tree. Also, remember, occasionally somebody’s house burned because a Christmas tree caught fire particularly after Christmas. I also remember one year itching and scratching, and only when the Christmas tree was taken out that we stopped itching and scratching. So I’m gonna assume that probably bout some rugs in on the Christmas tree so I did a little research to talk about if Christmas trees are beautiful and a festive addition to many homes during the holiday season, and as I said they do pose some dangerous. research
I found says live Christmas trees can harbor a variety of bugs including mites, aphids and spiders. These bugs can cause a number of problems including allergies, some people are allergic to the protein food in the bud droppings and saliva. Symptoms to an allergy of a Christmas tree bug can include sneezing, runny nose, itching, itching, eyes and a skin rash. And I think that one was me back around 59 or 60 Bytes some bugs such as mites can bite people, these bites can be itchy and uncomfortable. Disease. Some bugs such as takes care of diseases it can be transmitted to humans. Tip prevent bugs from bringing them in the house, it’s important to inspect your live Christmas tree carefully shake the tree to dislodge any loose bugs, and then spray it with a solution and then insecticidal soap. You should avoid placing in a tree near heat sources such as fireplaces, or event as this can attract bugs. Last Christmas trees can also be a fire hazard. The needles on a live Christmas tree can dry out and become flammable.
If alive Christmas tree is not cared for it will catch fire easily. To prevent this, you choose a fresh tree that’s got green needles. Don’t buy the bargain tree because it’s half priced and it’s almost green. Keep the tree watered like my mom and daddy did a well water tree is less likely to dry out and catch fire. But again, I remember having to take a glass of water and pouring in the tree stand every night before I went to bed. And a lot of times most of that water would be gone. So that tree was soaking up that water. I wouldn’t have thought it but I do remember it. Place a tree away from heat sources. Do not place the tree near the fireplace which is what you see in all the commercials the tree right by the fireplace we don’t need to do that. We don’t need it around Vance or other heat sources it’ll dry it out. And of course you use cool lights. When I was a kid all the lights that we strung around the tree got extremely hot and I’m sure that was response or fire to nowadays we have the LED lights that are very cool. They don’t heat up very much and they’re much safer. And after Christmas dispose of your tree promptly. I know they’re pretty but get them out of the house if they’re if they’re alive tree because you’ll forget to water them they’ll dry out and we certainly don’t need a fire. The other alternative which is what I’ve learned to do is look at an artificial tree. You get rid of the idea having a water it. You get rid of that idea of bringing in bugs on it and just much safer. I love a tree I remember as a kid going out in the woods when I got older and actually chopping a tree down the US but I And that was a lot of fun. But it was also very dangerous.
