This is Roger Tinker, Owner and General Manager of All Star Pest Control in Columbus, GA. I am
going to discuss a meeting that our company holds on the 1st. Friday of each month. There are
several reasons for this monthly meeting that all employees are required and paid to attend. They are
encouraged to bring their families with them as we serve a meal to all who attend. That’s a free meal
for the family once a month! We have arrangement with a church that rents us a large room that has
commercial kitchen in it.
The first reason is to give a business report for the progress of the company and to recognize
each employee and their contribution to the grow of the company. I think it is really important that the
employee's spouses and children understand how hard they work and the things that they are doing
to increase their compensation for the good of their family.
The second reason allows the company to provide a meal that in turns give all the employees
time to fellowship with each other away from working conditions. Lifetime friendships are formed as
all employees become part of the ALL STAR FAMILY.
I am the DJ and provide music and entertainment while everyone enjoys their meal.
The third reason is to recognize and help celebrate Birthdays of all who attend for the current
month. We ask parents to come to microphone and talk about the child that has a current birthday. I
think that is a lifetime memory for the whole family. We love to brag on employees when they have a
birthday. After all birthdays have been announced, we play "The Dora the Explorer Birthday song"
and the children and I dance to that song.
The fourth reason is that we all are served birthday cake.
The fifth reason is that I can continue to play music and entertain all those present.
The sixth reason is to provide a "Special Couples Dance" with the appropriate slow music.
The seventh reason is to participate in the line dance known as: "The Cha Cha Slide" All the
children look forward to "The Cha Cha Slide" and they do not let me forget to play it. The employees
all enjoy it whether it is watching or doing the "Slide".
The eighth and finale reason is that we want to provide an environment where employees want
to work and try to make them feel special about themselves.
