This is Roger Tinker, Owner and General Manager of All Star Pest Control in Columbus, Georgia.
I have Fried Catfish on my mind. I am not a professional food expert, but I do like food, especially
Catfish. When I moved to Columbus in 1984, Ezell’s Catfish Cabin was within a mile of where I
moved to. My youngest son, Matthew, was only one month old when we went to Ezell’s . I still
remember the booth by the window that we sat at as Matthew eat cheese grits and my wife and I had
some very good catfish.
My mother in law suggested that we try Rosehill Seafood Restaurant. Sha also suggested that we
take her with us. Again, we really enjoyed the fried Catfish. Rosehill also serves fresh Oysters on the
half shell. I have been back many times for Oysters.
My family has made many trips to Riverbend seafood restaurant that is just over the Flint River on the
way to Thomaston. That's a 45 minute drive from Columbus. Like I said, my family loves good
Catfish. They used to have all you can eat, but they do not have that feature anymore.
My youngest son introduced me to Zebs. They prepare Family size plates for takeout. Their Catfish is
also good, and I have eaten my share of Catfish from Zebs.
The best catfish that I have enjoyed is when my company would have a Catfish Fry for all the
employees.
We would cook fresh fillets in the fish fryers using Peanut Oil. My wife would make the Hush Puppies.
We tried to do that several times a year. I can still taste all that now.
Covid made us stop any activity for the employees for about 2 years. We are back to our monthly get
togethers, although we have not had catfish yet. My wife is no longer with us to make the Hush
Puppies.
We will have some fried catfish this fall when the weather is cooler.
I am sure there are other good places in Columbus Georgia to eat fried catfish. These are the places I
have experience with.
Enjoy your catfish and contact me if I can be of any service to you.
