This is Roger Tinker, Owner and General Manager of ALL STAR PEST CONTROL in
Columbus Georgia. I want to discuss some of the ways that pest can enter your home and how you
can fix some of the ways pest get in.
The first thing that you need to do is walk around your home and look at every power cable,
every TV cable and every pipe that enters your home. See if there is a good seal on every one of
these. If there is a crack big enough for one little ant to go into, the ants will find that crack and come
into your home. Bigger cracks will attract bigger pest such as roaches looking for food or water. Large
cracks in wood siding will attract rats that not only will come in but will gnaw a bigger hole so they can
have better access to your home. Once in your home, rats will contaminant food and anything that
they can gnaw on.
These holes can be sealed with caulking like the painters use when painting your home. It is
easier to prevent pest from getting into your home than it is to get them out of your home.
Take your time when doing the inspection and when you have finished doing your inspection, I
would do the inspection a second time. I almost always find something I missed on the first
inspection.
You can not be too through inspecting. Your goal is to prevent the pest from coming in.
Please feel free to contact me if I can help you in anyway.
