Columbus Has A New Carpenter, Carpenter Ants!!

This is Roger Tinker, owner and general manager of All Star pest control in Columbus, Georgia. I want to discuss , carpenter ants what they look like, where they are found and how to control them. Carpenter ants are the largest ants found in Georgia. They range in size from 1/8 of an inch long to over 5/8 of an inch long. Most of the carpenter ants in Georgia are black. Carpenter ants hollow out galleries in moist or decayed wood to make a nest in. They do not eat the wood, but they chew it up to hollow out the galleries and then dispose of the word beside the areas they’ve hollowed out. Carpenter ants sometimes we’ll move into wood that is not decayed. They usually have a parent nest is outside of buildings and trees, landscape timber, tree stumps or piles of firewood. Carpenter ants can forge over 300 feet from the parent nest, feeding on honeydew and the juices of insects they find. They will also eat human food when it is available. Controlling carpenter ants takes a lot of time and effort. Finding a parent nest means finding the trails of the carpenter ants and follow them back to the parent nest. Dust in the trees and the others where they are found works best.
Carpenter ants can be found anywhere in a building any game requires following the trails to locate the nest. This could be under the building as well and they as well as in the attic. Attics are common place for carpenter ants as roof leaks are where they go to because wood is to cave and that certainly attracts thest ants. Using dust, generally will work better because spray intense or scatter or simply move the hatch to go to another location still near the original infestation. The proper application of dust allows carpenter ants go about their normal activity so that all the ants will come in contact with the insecticidal dose. Death will occur in a few days. As with any pest problem, no tea homes are the same. These are basic recommendations only. Call me if I can help you in any way.
